s the representative body of Singapore's furniture industry, the Singapore Furniture Industries Council (SFIC) constantly aims to strategise its initiatives to improve the industry.
Based on the annual Furniture Industry Survey 2013-14 conducted by BDO Consultants Pte Ltd, which was commissioned by the SFIC and supported by SPRING Singapore, the total furniture trade amounted to S$6.24 billion in 2014, which is a commendable 7% growth since 2012. In particular, contract manufacturing opportunities abound, with the hospitality sector in the spotlight of the fast-growing Asia-Pacific region. We are glad that many of our contract manufacturers have been able to ride the wave of opportunities and are accomplishing much in furnishing residential, institutional, outdoor and commercial projects worldwide.
The SFIC's focus has always been in the area of trade, design, talent development and fostering industry networks. We look forward to the continued partnership with relevant stakeholders in the building and construction industry in our 3i journey – Improve, Innovate and Integrate – to further drive upward mobility and growth in the industry.
Thank you and congratulations on yet another successful edition of the Singapore Builders Directory!Mr Ernie Koh
