s the official representative body of Singapore’s furniture and furnishings industry, the Singapore Furniture Industries Council’s (SFIC) vision is to establish Singapore as a premier furniture hub that provides total solutions for the global market.
For 35 years, the SFIC has helped its members to adapt to changes in the business environment by introducing trade, talent, design development and business innovation activities, as well as upgrading business capabilities.
With many companies diversifying into numerous furniture-related business activities, products and services and others reaching for further shores such as Europe, ASEAN and China, the industry has grown into a notable contributor to the economy with a market size of S$6.25 billion for 2015.
SFIC’s membership comprises of furniture manufacturers, interior fit-out specialists, retailers, designers, as well as furnishings and materials suppliers. The council currently represents 95% of established furniture manufacturers in Singapore, of whom 65% have subsidiary manufacturing plants in various countries across the region, including China, Indonesia, Malaysia, Myanmar, Thailand and Vietnam.
For 2016 and beyond, the SFIC will continue to work closely with various trade-related associations and government agencies to drive the furniture and furnishings industry forward, as well as help its members to develop and expand their businesses through business-matching activities locally and overseas.
The Singapore Source Book for Architects, Designers and Building Contractors will continue to be an indispensable informative guide for our SFIC members and we are pleased to show our support once again.
Thank you and I wish you every success. Mr Ernie Koh
