The business was initially established in the 1970s by Mr Sio Chain Ling under a sole-proprietorship and was involved in mainly small scale construction activities. In 1988, it was incorporated as a private limited company, Far East Contractor Pte Ltd, to manage larger scale projects.

Over the years, it has undertaken numerous prestigious projects which have contributed towards the development of Singapore's built environment. The company regularly engages in work projects for both public agencies such as the Housing Development Board and Town Councils and the private sector like Property Owners and Developers.

Today, the company is renowned to be a reputable and experienced general building contractor. Notably, in 2010, it has achieved the ISO 9001:2008, OHSAS 18001:2007 and bizSAFE STAR certifications. With a quality, health and safety management system in place, it is equipped with the expertise to achieve the high standards set by its clients.
