Nature of Business
Sato Kogyo traces its roots to one of the oldest turnkey
contractors in Japan. Established in 1862 and headquartered
in Tokyo, Sato Kogyo laid the cornerstone of modern building
technology by focusing on and developing newer and more
efficient construction methodologies that are still relevant
around the world today.
Over a rich history of more than 150 years, Sato Kogyo has
accomplished numerous types of building and civil engineering
projects of varying scale, nature and complexity globally,
particularly in Japan, South East Asia, Middle East and China.
In 1972, the firm recognised the growing construction activities
in the Asia Pacific region and spreaded its wings beyond the
shores of Japan. Expanding rapidly in response to its success,
Sato Kogyo set up offices in Singapore, Kuala Lumpur, Bangkok,
Phnom Penh and Yangon. The strength of the Singapore Office
has evolved into Regional Headquarters in 2002 to oversee the
emerging East Asian markets.
Underpinned by two divisions each with specific focus on
building and civil engineering projects, Sato Kogyo has been
able to cater to a broad spectrum of consumer needs, ranging
from high-tech industrial facilities, iconic institutional
landmarks, prestigious office towers and modern retail hubs to
rail infrastructures, tunnels, bridges and viaducts.
Sato Kogyo is the proud recipient of numerous celebrated awards
such as the BCA Construction Award, BCA Design and Engineering
Safety Award, URA Architectural Heritage Award, SIA Building
of the Year Award, SSSS Structural Steel Design Award, WSH
SHARP Award and LTA Safety Award.
